6th Capoeira Angola International Encounter

The Capoeira Angola Encounter presents the opportunity for capoeristas and people interested in Capoeira Angola from around Australia and internationally, to meet and further their understanding and experience of Capoeira Angola.

It is the opportunity to host Mestres from Brazil in Australia so that we can learn together at their workshops and from the living experience of spending time together.

The 2012 Capoeira Angola Encounter will be hosting Mestre Virgilio and Contra-Mestra Gege.

Mestre Virgilio is the grandfather of ECAMAR and he is an important Mestre of Capoeira Angola for his wealth of knowledge and his lifelong contribution to the art of Capoeira Angola.

Contra-Mestra Gege is the first female player to come to Australia to administer Capoeira Angola workshops. Her presence will be an important reference for the female capoeirstas of Australia as she brings both her knowledge of Capoeira Angola and the knowledge of a female practitioner that has made space for herself in the world of Capoeira Angola
